Over the centuries, Portugal has had, as it still has today, a musical production that is undoubtedly relevant and of unquestionable quality within the national and international artistic panorama, but which has often been forgotten or remained unknown.

The preservation and dissemination of this musical legacy, current and old, left by a multitude of composers as an integral part of our artistic heritage of reference, is thus a fundamental and necessary task to contradict this indifference and contribute to the construction and understanding of a Portuguese cultural identity within a heterogeneity of national values.

It is in this context that the fermata publishing house, created in June 1996, guides its activity and elects as its fundamental objective the disclosure of Portuguese musical repertoire through the publishing of scores, theoretical musical works and audio records.
